Almost spring?

Here are a few pictures from a Sunday walk through the Pike Street Market with friends. It felt very much like spring was in the air.
And then this morning we woke up to snow.

Take a look at these lovely paper cuts, sent to me by Victoria.

Yay, it's done!

Aside from finishing this print today I also attended a printmaking demo by Tom Reed. Here you can see a thumbnail image of the etching he printed. You can see more of his work here. Me likes.
Tonight I am off to the Artist Trust Auction to smooze with patrons. As if.

When good registration goes bad

Don’t ask me how I managed this one, but it is a fine example of why I usually print twice as many pieces as I hope to have in the end.

Happy Sunday

Happy Superbowl Sunday. I know there are many ardent fans out there, but I’ve never been one. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good game now and then but football is one of those sports I prefer watching live, like in a stadium. I have very fond memories of high school football games…sitting in the stands, the cold autumn air, my senses heightened to the exact whereabouts of my current crush, eagerly anticipating the after-game dance in the high school cafeteria, and even watching the game for a minute or two. (I guess those are the glory days Bruce is singing about.)
My most vivid Superbowl memory, (well, I guess it’s my only Superbowl memory) is from the early 80’s. My sister and had I invited our boyfriends over for the big game. We got ourselves dolled up, purchased football food, most likely those little weenies wrapped in Pillsbury dough, Slim Chipley potato chips, onion dip and a gianormous bottle of Chablis. The next thing I knew it was 2am and I was waking up on the couch with a tinge of a headache and my eyes glued shut because I fell asleep wearing my contact lenses. I guess that Chablis packed a wallop. Anywho, here I sit twenty-some years later tuned into Superbowl XLIII. It provides some background noise but mostly because I don’t want to miss the hour long episode of The Office that is supposed to air afterwards.
I’ve been a bit under the weather this past week and today I sound like Alfalfa from The Little Rascals. A very hoarse Alfalfa. After trying to carry on a few conversations earlier today I determined it was easier for everyone if I just shut my mouth. But I digress. My feeling under the weather this week didn’t keep me out of my studio completely but I was hoping to have this piece finished and ready to share today. Maybe tomorrow.
